Coming Right Up: Fight #3

In just seven weeks, I get to step back into the ring for my third fight. I can’t wait! I’ll box on Atlanta Corporate Fight Night 6, taking place on January 24th, 2013 at The Foundry. Training for this show officially began on November 12th. It was shortly thereafter that I found out about this opportunity, due to another match that fell through. They didn’t need to ask me if I wanted to fill in for the fight—they knew I was ready and waiting.

We kicked off the show with a press conference to announce the matches and introduce the boxers. It was fun to see everyone together, all dressed up and ready to talk some smack. The night set a festive tone for the upcoming show and got people excited. I enjoyed the whole affair, even though I paid about $100—or maybe it was $10—for three tiny quesadilla slices. (I’m just not classy enough for that.)

Other than gaining 10 lbs since my last fight, I’ve kept up my training in the gym. I wondered when my next bout would be, thinking that I might have to wait until spring or summer… Now that I’ve got a set event in front of me to look forward to, I’m focusing on making the best use of my time between now and then. (Which apparently includes posting a blog post at 3 am.) My confidence in myself as a boxer has grown in the past few weeks, and you know I’m going for a win.

Come support me! The charity I am fighting for this time around is Thaakat Atlanta, a group that organizes all kinds of projects to promote volunteerism. (More about them in a future post.) The winner of the match takes the prize for her charity, so I need your support at the show. Here are the tickets that are available:

  • $150 — VIP Ringside (incl. VIP Cocktail Reception)
  • $100 — Ringside
  • $50 — Preferred Seating
  • $25 — General Admission (standing)

Click here to buy a ticket or make a contribution to my sponsorship via PayPal. You can also write a check or money order payable to “Atlanta Corporate Fight Night” (write “Kelsey Smith” on the memo line), or pay with cash. I hope to see you there! Thank you for your support.
